So you got that special someone a special gift for Valentine’s Day (places like My Pop Art offer great personalized gifts anytime of the year) and you’re wondering what other ways to make your Valentine’s Day sing like the angels on high.
One idea is to keep it simple. Sometimes couples try too hard for Valentine’s Day and find themselves disappointed. This year, why not nix the overcrowded restaurants and the perfunctory dozen roses. Keep the love at home!
Start by cooking a meal together – one both of you have planned in advance. Create a menu that contains food that both of you love. Maybe he loves pot roast and you love lemon meringue pie. Do a little research and find out what wine will match your meal well, for dinner and dessert (that cab for the pot roast is not going to go as well with the lemon meringue pie, for instance!)
Perhaps afterwards, you can plan a movie together – something fun, inspirational and light. It doesn’t have to be romantic, just enjoyable. And make it a real movie night – popcorn, blankets, surround-a-sound (if you have it.)
If you are both feeling comfortable, why not a little romantic music and dancing? Poor dancing – nobody does it anymore and its such a wonderful prelude to a sexy evening. Even if you are both lousy dancers, it can be fun to try!
If dancing isn’t your style, go for a long walk after your meal. Walking is a great way to bond with someone (as well as being great exercise!)
Bottom line: Valentine’s Day can be a little pressure-filled. Make it something simple, romantic and fun at home this year.
