I’ve used My Pop Art several times, for friends and family members. But with the holidays fast approaching, I knew I needed to get something for my mother that wasn’t as bold, fun and vibrant as the Pop Art versions of photos I’ve sent in the past. Am I saying my mother can’t handle a little boldness and fun? Well, maybe not. Don’t get me wrong - she can be a real kick in the pants after several glasses of wine but for the most part, she is a conservative mom.
Luckily, I looked at the My Pop Art site a little more in-depth. I saw that they offer a service where you send them a photo and they transfer it to canvas, giving it a sort of “museum quality.” Now that’s a little more my mom’s speed. I dug up a photo from last year’s family gathering where the whole gang is sitting on the beach laughing and being silly. There’s seagulls flying away behind us, as if to say “This crowd is too rowdy for us. Let’s get out of here.”
I know my mom really liked the photo. She asked me for a copy but I kept forgetting. Good thing. Now I have a perfect gift idea. Once this is transferred onto canvas, she has a favorite photo of her that’s considerably different than sticking a picture up on your fridge with a magnet!
It’s also nice to know I have a nice, easy way to take care of my Christmas presents in a special way. It’s a one-of-a-kind gift.
