Taking Photos, Sending Pop Art

When Krissie and I started our friendship a million years ago, I never realized how important our photos would be to us. She moved overseas and often we’d communicate by sending our photos back and forth to one another. When I discovered My Pop Art, I knew I could send her something more than just a photo and really surprise her. But what photo to choose?

It’s tough when you have hundreds of pictures to choose from. We’ve known each other since grade school. I sorted through batches and batches and finally came up with my choice. It was one of the two of us on the first day of school. We were both looking spiffy and quite excited. It’s kinda funny especially since she and I didn’t like school so much, but we sure look psyched that day!

When I sent her the My Pop Art version of it, she said that it beat all the photos in the world. She was thrilled to have a bright, bold artistic representation of a lifetime worth of friendship. I was thrilled to have sent it to her, to see our friendship come to life on a whole new level. We’ve been through it all together but somehow that photo showcases our strength, our excitement, our joie de vivre! That’s something that’s gotten us through the good times as well as the bad. I wanted that on her wall to remind her that we manage, somehow, all the time. We are essentially, always, those little kids.
