Celebrating Summer with Pop Art

“Summer’s here and the time is right for dancing in the streets.”

That’s how the song goes. Wow. I don’t know of the last time I danced in the street, but I’m sure willing to give it a try. I will pull out my camera, I vow to myself, and shoot photos of myself dancing in the street, or of friends who are visiting, or of the birds flashing about, or of the raspberries growing in my backyard or the waves crashing resoundingly.

Once I do this, I will send my best summer work into My Pop Art and have the image recreated into a magical, fun and lively piece to put up on my wall, reminding me of Summer 2008 for many years to come.

The seasons fly, don’t they? The last two summers I felt like I didn’t grab them, couldn’t hold them in my hands. Last summer, I worried a good portion of it, over stuff that has now been resolved. The previous summer, I had moved and my head felt like it was spinning most of the time.

This summer, I want to be like the summers of the past, where you lie around dreamily watching the day slowly unfurl, like the wispy clouds above. Or at the very least, you meet a hot surfer dude and drink beer with him in your backyard! Either will work just fine by me. But this time,  I will capture photos of it all, sealing it in my memory, helping me encapsulate my sprawling, silly and fun little life in digital.
