Making the Terrible Twos Not So Terrible with Pop Art

If you have a child or have some young ones around, you understand the horror of the “terrible twos.” This trying time is marked by tantrums and rebellion that could try the souls of the most centered and peaceful parent or caretaker. It’s a time when a child is purposefully challenging you. It’s the way they learn limitations, so you try not to take it too personally!

Psychologically-speaking, they are defining themselves in relation to you and learning what boundaries are all about. Here at PopArt, we can help smooth the rough edges…or at least try!
How? Well, we propose that you mark this trying occasion with a distinctive, PopArt style image of this little monster! That way, when you look at the brass and bold artistic rendering of your child, you’ll realize that this time period is a little more celebratory than you would think.
Perhaps you can snatch an image of them mid-tantrum, with wild eyes and toys being flung mercilessly across the room? Send us a shot of your wild child and we’ll create a piece to hang up in your child’s room or living room. That way, when you feel like pulling your hair out, you’ll remember that this time, while trying, is special and dare I say, even a little interesting?

Your child is figuring out who he or she is and you’re watching the complicated and crazy evolution. And it only happens once. PopArt can help you see the humor and the beauty in it. Trust me, you’ll need it!

Romantic Expression = Pop Art

Being in love is a fiery and festive time.  You’re daily life takes on a whole new meaning - stars shine a little brighter and that annoying, dismissive cashier at the grocery store somehow seems a little sweeter…maybe.  It’s time to celebrate - the early flushes of love are oft fleeting and either make way for either a deeper connection or utter, soul-wrenching  torment.  PopArt would like help you mark this occasion in a one-of-a-kind way.

First you’ll have to capture the moment.  Make sure it’s the right one.  Keep the camera handy, whether you’re having a sun-drenched picnic in the park or having your first argument that never seems to end.  Most cameras have an auto-timer feature, so just set it up, run back to your romantic setting and look casual - toss your head back in that  devil-may-care manner or just look longingly into your lover’s eyes, swimming in the depths of murky eternity.

Once you delete all of  the photos where your eyes are half open or he has a double chin and found that one photo, that one magical photo, that epitomizes and immortalizes the romance and connection the two of you have - even if its only for the next week or two - send it our way.  We’ll eternalize the moment for you, regardless of how temporary he or she is!

You can PopArt your photo, with bold, lively colors of perhaps you’ll choose our vintage option, giving your photo a particularly timeless feel.

Look, we know love can come and go like the mailman.  But that doesn’t mean it’s not special!  That doesn’t mean that 10 years later, when the bitterness has finally subsided, you’ll won’t want to reflect back on a moment the two of you shared and say, “Thanks, PopArt!”

If you’re like me, buying presents for people can be a royal pain.  It turns into a guessing game!  It’s hard to approximate people’s tastes and making a mistake (read: something that hides in the recipient’s closet) is costly. PopArt gift certificates are a gift that just about anyone would like - and it’s one of a kind.

The beauty of one of our gift certificates is that it gives the recipient tons of creative control.  They can choose the photograph they want PopArtified.  And if PopArt is not their cup of tea, we have several other options that are bound to please.  The most important thing we stress is this:  hit us with your best shot.  To make your shot really “sing”, we need a well-composed and well-lit shot.  The better the photograph, the greater artistic rendering basically.

So if you picky aunt has a birthday coming up or your hubby and you are celebrating an upcoming anniversary, consider us.  We get lots of feedback and PopArt and everybody says the same thing:  the finished product is one of a kind - distinctive and fun.

And hey, no one is stopping from you giving yourself a gift!  Maybe you just finished a difficult work project or had a birthday that seemed to slip under the radar.  PopArt is a special treat - even for yourself.

So don’t sweat all the anniversaries and birthdays and holiday gifts - turn to us.  We just made your day, heck, maybe your year a lot simpler.

Its getting to be that time of the year again - teens are nearing the end of their high school years and making grand plans for a sweet and memorable prom.

Prom means a lot to kids - even in these times.  It marks the end of an era and an entry into adulthood.  It can almost be seem as an unveiling of sorts; a chance for the world to see these teens as early adults. Well, PopArt can make sure we mark the occasion in a special, distinctive way.
Prom is a perfect chance to snap as many photos as possible - because its a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  Most people have their prom photos  taken professionally at the event, and here at PopArt, we make the most of quality, well-lit photos.

Prom photos will be looked at in a different way than most photos.  We all know the feeling that is elicited when we see these photos!  Sometimes, its dismaying.  “I can’t believe I wore my hair that way!” or “That could be one of the most hideous dresses of all time!” Sometimes it’s favorable.  “Gosh, he was cute!”
Well, regardless of your date, fashion choice or hair-do, PopArt.com can memorialize this time in many ways.  Why not take your best shot and send it our way?  We can turn a good photo into a classic, interesting art piece.  Or why not have some fun by wrapping that image around a mug or putting it on a t-shirt?

And if you are considerably past your prom years, dust off one of the old, classic photos and let’s do something special with it.  You’ll realize that recapturing that special time is easier than you think.

We live in a day where corporate logos are plastered all around us.  It’s hard to find a place where there isn’t an advertising message trying to capture your eye.  It’s tough to see past it all sometimes.  It’s rare we see something that is a genuine expression of one’s personality or spirit.

We at PopArt.com recognize the importance of making a mark that is distinctly your own - creative, playful and individual.  When you wear an authentic PopArt.com t-shirt, you’re wearing something more than a t-shirt.  You’re wearing art, expressive, bold and individually YOU.  Play with your expression.  Look at ways you can enhance your wardrobe to include something that no one else is wearing.  Break out of the “herd” mentality.  Find yourself a distinctive photo and send it our way.  We are here to enhance your artwork, to bring out the skill and expression you already brought to the table.

When you receive your t-shirt, wear it proudly.  Remember that life is about expression and self-discovery.  So if you’re on the beginning of a creative path in your life - trying to discover that artist within - let us help.  PopArt.com prides itself in showcasing creativity in bold and distinctive ways.  We just need your work in order to do it.  The beauty of photography is its accessibility and relative ease.  Whether your a novice or a pro, we all have the ability to take a good photograph.

Consider it a creative collaboration.  Because ultimately, that’s what it is!

Picking the Right Color for your Pop Art Piece

Once you decide on an image you want to “pop artify”, you also should consider the importance of color. Your pop art piece will utilize color in a bright, bold fashion so you want to make sure the color you choose works for you.

Color psychology has been around for quite some time. Ancient Egyptian and Chinese cultures practiced something termed chromotherapy (which is using colors to heal.) Chromotherapy goes by several other names such as “colorology” or “light therapy.”

Red, for instance, is a very intense color and has been known to stimulate a faster heartbeat. It gets noticed, that’s for sure. So when picking your PopArt colors, make sure you use this color judiciously. In decorating terms, it is better to use as an accent.

Pink has a tranquilizing effect. Use this color for your PopArt piece in a room where you want the visitor to relax and feel comfortable.

Blue also has a tranquilizing effect - even more so than pink. It is appropriate for a a PopArt piece you use in a bedroom, for instance. When used too much, it can have a depressing effect.

Green is a very popular color - though it doesn’t always look good with many people’s skin hues. So if your PopArt gift is for a loved one, make sure they look good in green. Green is a very positive color, implying growth and a sense of productivity.

When it’s all said and done, the color needs to work for you - regardless of the color. Walk around your house or apartment and get a sense of what colors currently work for you in your household. Do you feel clear-headed when sitting in your white kitchen? Relaxed in your pink bedroom? What colors will compliment your PopArt piece when you hang it on the wall? Colors are very representative of our personality. Make sure the color you choose works for you!

Pop Art - Share the History

Pop Art has a rich and interesting history.  The term was coined by England-based Lawrence Alloway in 1958 in Architectural Digest and was used to describe post-war work that utilized elements of consumerism and materialism.   In essence, Pop Art attempted to break down the barrier that separated commercial and fine arts in a fun, playful way.

The Pop Art movement moved overseas in the 1960’s and become part of our culture via famous artists such as Andy Warhol (who used a photo-realistic, mass production printmaking technique called serigraphy) and Roy Lichtenstein.  Pop Art became an accessible, cross-cultural phenomenon, utilizing elements of consumerism, advertising, comic strips and product packaging.  Pop Art also made a cultural statement on media, disposable images and mass production.

Andy Warhol well-known quote goes:

“In the future, everybody will be famous for 15 minutes.”

Make a loved one famous for longer than 15 minutes.  Hey, don’t they deserve a little longer?

MyPopArt.com is a great way to transform a loved image in a fun, colorful way.  Whether you choose a poster or a mug or a card, MyPopArt.com will portray your image in a distinctive and vibrant way.  The artists at MyPopArt.com are just that – artists.  They specialize in bringing out that certain Pop Art quality in a way that feels one-of-a-kind and special.  Any lucky recipient feels as if they have been immortalized in a fashionable, unique way.

…the picture is really gorgeous! It looked like he was going to meow at
any minute. We had a good cry but then remembered all the joy he
brought in to our lives in the 8 short months we got to foster him. He
was a wonderful old guy who just used up 8 1/2 of his lives before he
got to us. The frame is just perfect.

Thanks, again, for your kindness.
